Modern Day Roman Catholic Woman
nostra aetate"Our vocation is not simply to be,
but to work together with God
in the creation of our own life,
our own identity, our own destiny.”
Thomas Merton
Above is a link to the Britannica summary of Nostra Aetate, a provisional of Vatican II (just for familiarity a skim would be more than enough). A lot of interpersonal conflict was occurring due to religious persecution. As an American, I believe everyone should have a right to practice whatever religion they would like. I was taught that we are called to have interfaith discussions to understand and recognize universal truths that myself and the other person share. I think it can be difficult to do/hear but I can confidently say that I can separate the theology of one's religion and the practitioner but I have noticed that when I do speak, that my stance is always unmovable and perhaps a bit fixed, I have sort of come to take discussions as just a form of exploring how a practitioner views their faith versus what I may find on my own armchair research. I have a mailbox below so no matter what you believe please feel free to message me...I think that good morality comes from God and that He would be able to reach anyone in any circumstance. I am not the first to believe this and I am sure I won't be the last

I am currently reading The Master and Margarita and
have taken many breaks....it seems my life has finally aligned
with the story recently (not the events just themes of how
my country's political climate is and how my everyday life fits into that)
As many women do, I see myself in Margarita a lot. She has a lot of privilege and the novel touches on it may be easier for those with privilege to choose the right course of action because they have nothing to lose, the system will still benefit them in terms of class and monetary resources, one who is protected isn't making that much of a stance....or are they? I think this book brings up a great point of how it can be easy to judge the morality of a person who has had to do whatever they could to get by, when one has never had to worry about getting by...would the judge be able to make their comfy decisions in a moment of danger, in a moment of ruin or social suicide? A lot of times the answer is no. timeless classic and I recommend having a way to google context in the USSR during the 1930's.
