I have been wondering about angels for most of my life but sporadically if I am being honest.
I grew up with the same idea that most of us have....an angel is someone sent from God to help guide us closer to Him and help protect us from danger.
I have heard of guardian angels and archangels with notable examples of the angel St. Gabriel approaching Mother Mary and St Michael the Archangel. I feel like what I know is all over the place. I plan on making this page a dropbox of sorts so I (and anyone else interested) can come check it out.
I have heard of people writing letters to angels ("please pray for my loved one in the hospital"). Clean hands, clean paper, and red ink....I do not know how reliable that information is but I have done it and it was similar to saying the Prayer to your Guardian Angel.
I vividly remember learning about the idea that most angels are not in human form (Image of God); we are. The stories I learned growing up have really started to make even more sense to me now. On my home page, I do place some artwork of other classes of angels and honestly they look awesome! I want to state this is my own personal research on here and I will always take a Catholic perspective. I do want to start to compile what I know because it is so fascinating.
There is a very nuanced way to speak on these topics that frankly I am still learning how to articulate. We have to remember that although God and those who work for Him are powerful and mighty....He still loves us. In Scripture, it is said God sees us similar to how we see little lambs and perhaps in the modern day context, the way we see our household pets. As a proud dog owner, I have immense love for my two dogs but they chew up my things, they go to the bathroom in the house, and they sometimes do not want to cuddle with me 😂.... but all that to say I still love those dogs head to toe; my long winded point was that although we mess up and sin...God still loves us and accepts our wounds.
A mystery of faith to me is why would He make us (humans who are very flawed) when He has a whole court of Angels who are not full of sin? Even though I will never know that answer, I just feel an immense feeling of gratitude but also a feeling of I don't deserve His love due to my sin and flaws. When I look at my life when I sinned more and my life where I actively made an enough to focus on my morality (no one can live without sin especially in these times, we just have to stand strong and make good choices asking God for that guidance), life is better when you are less sinful....a similar idea would be how something is better if you work for it and are patient. We are so used to instant gratification and satisfying every bodily desire that we are at a point where our dopamine receptors are overloaded as a society...we have become numb. God's love and presence makes one life more fruitful....fruit takes many many weeks to grow and become ripe, as do God's gifts to us (another very interesting topic I will probably also explore here.)
To go more on that question I posed...hearing the story of the great fall of Lucifer makes a little more sense...it is similar to the story of the Parable of the Lost Son ( button below) except Lucifer did not want to resume his role in God's Kingdom, he wanted to sit at the right hand ( That is where Jesus, Son of God sits), again I have more research to do and I am only a practitioner of Roman Catholicism, but I am pretty sure that is why there was a war between the Angels and Demons with the notable service of St. Michael the Archangel... because Lucifer hates us and how much God loves us. That is why he tempts us with sin similar to how he did so with bread and water with Jesus in the desert.... I obviously do not know the devil personally but I imagine he hates Jesus as well due to wanting to sit where Jesus sits. I do want my page to be a place of love so I won't go any further in detail about that but I would be lying if I said the topic does not intrigue me but the intrigue is more fear based, which I can see being dangerous in the sense of thinking that something may be disguised as something notable but is not good.

And no wonder, for Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light. It is not surprising, then, if his servants also masquerade as servants of righteousness. Their end will be what their actions deserve.

In my youth, I have heard of the story of Job; but I did not realize how active the role of angels (albeit holy or fallen ones)were in the story of Job. I have heard that angels are pure energy and that energy being of God; angels were created meaning they are not eternal. To hear angels are light, it didn't revolutionary; but to think of Angels being light for our souls as light is for eyes in order to see anything makes a lot of sense. The theme of light vs darkness is truly not only in terms of morality but also in terms of our scientific understanding of which we live and the "metaphor" truly applies in a literal and metaphysical sense. It truly is amazing. Angels are messengers of light; wielders of light; the light of which was yielded by God.
During my armchair research, the question of why Angels would have interest in us or as to why God would create beings such as us that sin a lot when He has a multitude of angels who are immensely stronger in every way than us. Albeit it natural to not feel worthy, I realize that is the goal of fallen angels; making each and everyone of us feel unworthy of God's love. If I am honest, this is a very real feeling I have and it does cause me a great deal of depression. I am far from perfect; prone to anger and weakness of the flesh; very hedonistic. However, knowing that it makes certain obstacles clearer and easier to confront, especially within my own thoughts and emotions.
Angels can reveal things to the soul immediately , but often we need time to understand and grasp the meaning of the profound mysteries they reveal.

I cannot be the only person who has experienced a moment that I did not fully comprehend in the moment; was adamant that it was odd, avoided the situation and then years later start to understand why something was said or done. I imagine that is a similar way that we receive these messages. The same was our cognitive development takes time to be able to handle concrete thought to more abstract thought is the same way our soul can begin to develop towards God and His salvation. Every form of "human" intellect is delivered to us by Dominons. Angels make known the mystery of Christ and in doing so to save souls.
The current book I am reading discusses the meeting that takes place at the beginning of the story of Job. I have commentary on it and I would like to compare it to the story of the creation of the prayer to the Archangel Michael.
5th century Church Father, Hesychius of Jerusalem states that the meeting that we read about in Job; is a meeting with God and the angels who reside on earth with us to help serve us to God. So to conclude, this meeting most likely had the Principalities, all the Archangels, and all the Angels (common and/or guardian). St. Gregory the great has stated when Scripture refers to the Sons of God it is reference to holy angels. I would like to remind you that we refer to Jesus as the Son of Man, a self designated title by Jesus, Himself.
In this meeting, there is an interloper, that interloper is of course Satan.
Now the day came when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD and Satan also arrived among them. (JOB 1:6)
Every word in Scripture is extremely intentional. Stating that Satan "also arrives" is to showcase that Satan arrives separate from the good angels on Earth, does NOT stand with God and is in fact arriving in contradiction. [if anyone has watched SPN, you will be familiar with this concept]
Angels have a unique free will; perhaps a superior one; meaning because their intellect is vastly higher than ours; their choices are more permanent. When Satan chose to be separate from God; he chose to continuously make that choice; knowingly. Another human belief that I have most certainly participated in; is that in some point over the span of time, Satan apologized to God and agreed to punish sinners on behalf of God because God couldn't do that to His Creation. That thought was pure delusion. It is clear that Satan came to this meeting to disrupt the meeting to foil the efforts of the holy angels who were responsibility for protecting us human beings on a fallen world thanks to the Original Sin of Adam and Eve. When God asked Satan "whence have you come from?" It is not a question; whence refers to nothingness. God is reminding us and Satan that he is separate from God; therefore Satan is nothing. The no of Satan represents how Satan wants to undo God's creation. In the Book of Job, when God brings up "considering Job" he does not mean "have you heard of him?" God is referring to past unsuccessful attempts of Satan to lure away Job from God.
Whenever Satan lies, he does not use declarative statements; he poses a question to promote doubt in God. Even in the Garden of Eden, Satan started his lie with a "question"
“Did God really say, ‘You must not eat from any tree in the garden’? ... For God knows that when you eat from it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil. (Genesis 3:1 , 3:5)
Does Job fear God for nothing?” Satan replied... You have blessed the work of his hands, so that his flocks and herds are spread throughout the land. But now stretch out your hand and strike everything he has, and he will surely curse you to your face. (Job 1:9, 1:11)

These situations showcase Satan proposing a challenge of God's love for us or our love for God. There have been more information that I need more time to look into. It is a scary feeling that we have been (or are currently in) the position of Job. Upon looking at these videos and some articles, I have learned a bit about the Miracle of the Sun and frankly I want to be more informed if I do decide to talk about it here. The point being is that spiritual warfare does and has existed and while we can only do so much; what we do, who we belong too, will determine our character and when we die it will God who will judge us on our character and our morality. I hope that everyone I encounter even those I wish to never speak again too are strong enough to choose to be a good person. There are things we could never understand as human beings and honestly speaking for myself I barely understand a lot of what/why/how things occur in my own personal life but I accept that I will be meant to be where I am supposed to be; I pray the same for you dear reader.

Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that the family of believers throughout the world is undergoing the same kind of sufferings.
